SUNNYSIDE (Wednesday, 11-18-99)--After snitches said Bruce Burson owned some methamphetamine at #77 Lamplighter Trailer Court in Grandview, Sunnyside police served a warrant at the residence.

Once inside, cops said they found a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana in the home.

Det. Sgt. Jim Rivard said police were aware of the prior arrest warrant at the time the search warrant was served. Attempts had been made earlier to arrest Burson, but cops couldn't find him.

October heist at C&D Market
3 in slammer after Mabton robbery
MABTON (Monday, 11-15-99)--Police have arrested three Mabton residents on charges of robbing the C&D Market here Oct. 15. Two adults and a juvenile reportedly were involved.

Masked thugs entered the convenience store at about 10:40 p.m. brandishing a sawed off shotgun and a handgun. They demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money, according to reports.

Mabton Police Chief Raul Almeida said investigations revealed the shotgun used in the robbery was sold afterward. Police reportedly contacted the buyer and retrieved it. A .38 military pistol also was recovered and is believed to be the other weapon used in the heist.

The guns are now being traced to find their original owners.

Police today were attempting to get warrants to search suspects' residences for masks. The trio are in Sunnyside Jail.

Almeida told reporters that suspects' names will be released at a later date to facilitate investigation of another crime. Almeida was out of town Wednesday and is expected back Friday morning, according to staff.

YVN will release names and photos of the suspects when the Mabton chief gives the OK. (Crime with victim)

This coke wasn't Pepsi
2 nabbed in cocaine bust
SUNNYSIDE (Monday, 11-1-99)--Police have arrested two men at 1:30 this afternoon for delivering and conspiring to deliver cocaine in Sunnyside.

Undercover police bought a quarter kilo of coke in the 600 block of Yakima Valley Highway.

Given U.S. drug law effects on cocaine prices, what would be a few cents worth of the powder in South America has an inflated U.S. street value of $5,000 in Sunnyside. The inflated prices keep drug barons in business.

The sale took place within 1,000 feet of a school, officers said. Police also reportedly seized a '98 Dodge Durango in the deal, which will be sold. Any equity dollars in the vehicle will flow into the police budget .

Miguel Angel Moreno, 21, of 122 4th Ave., and Arturo Beltran, 25, of 513 Main St., both Mabton, were arrested and booked in Sunnyside City Jail. (Victimless crime against state)
