(Friday, 8-6-99)--Police have arrested a
Sunnyside man after a 13-year old female
reported she was sexually assaulted by a
neighbor at around 4:30 p.m.
today.

- Police said the
girl came into the neighbor's home because of
her friendship with the children of the home.
She reportedly came in to see a small
puppy.
-
- She told police
that, as she held the puppy, the suspect
forced her to a room where the offense took
place. The girl reportedly managed to get
free from the suspect and run away to her
home.

- Police said the
suspect later tried to contact the victim by
her bedroom window. That's when police
arrested him.

- Arrested in
connection with the incident was Juan
Francisco Morales, 29, of 1700 Cascade Way,
#78. He was arrested at #81. Morales was
charged with second degree child molestation
and second degree attempted rape of a child,
according to Det. Oliver
Hernandez.

(Wednesday, 8-4-99)--Police say
Ismael A.
Rodriguez,
16, of 106 Hawthorn Drive, broke into the
home of a 12-year old neighbor girl at 7 p.m.
today.

- He reportedly
detained the victim at 112 Hawthorn Drive and
would not leave the home when she ordered him
to do so.

- Someone called
the cops to 112 Hawthorn Drive and Rodriguez
was arrested at his home next door at 106. He
was booked into Sunnyside Jail and
transferred to the Yakima County Juvenile
Detention Center, police said.

- Rodriguez was
charged with first-degree burglary and
unlawful imprisonment, according to Det. Kent
Coffman.

auto seized for

- Erratic
driving leads to heroin bust
- SUNNYSIDE
(Tuesday, 8-3-99)--When cops saw a man
driving erratically in his '88 Honda Accord
at around 11 p.m. today, they stopped whom
they believed might be a drunk driver. But it
soon proved to be more than a routine
DUI.

- The guy refused
to stop after a half mile car chase. When the
driver finally pulled over, he caught one of
the Honda's wheels in a drainage ditch.
Officers said the driver then bolted from the
car carrying a package. He then fled south
along the ditch bank.

- Cops immediately
gave chase, and reportedly saw the driver
toss something into the canal. After a
half-mile foot race, cops nabbed the driver
without a struggle. Then officers got the
package floating in the
ditch.

- Officers said
the package contained almost an ounce of
black tar heroin plus a large electronic
scale.

- Arrested in
connection with the incident was Jesus Jose
Lopez, 25, of Grandview. Cops seized the
heroin, a small amount of marijuana and the
1988 Honda Accord, according to Officer James
Orth. Lopez was booked at Sunnyside Jail and
transported to Yakima County Jail for formal
charges.

- SUNNYSIDE
(Monday, 8-2-99)--Police are looking for a
man suspected firing a slug into a car at
2:30 a.m. today in the Dark Horse Inn parking
lot at 1400 Yakima Valley
Highway.

- Police said they
responded to the report of a fight at the
Dark Horse. When they arrived, witnesses said
a man had fired a gun during the meelee. No
gunshot injuries were
reported.

- Several persons
reportedly sustained minor injuries due to
the fighting. A semi-automatic handgun was
recovered from the incident, police
said.

- Officers said
they identified the shooter and will file
charges in Yakima County Superior Court.

brawl; five arrests

babes duke it downtown
- SUNNYSIDE
(Sunday, 8-1-99)--Several police agencies
gathered to stop a queen-size brawl at the
corner of 16th and Yakima Valley Highway at
11 p.m. today, according to
reports.

- Officers
indicated lots of the gentle gender were
bopping one another, and it took the help of
Grandview PD, the Washington State Patrol and
local officers to stop it.

- Police said the
meelee was an outgrowth of an earlier
dukefest at the Tropicana dance hall on
Morgan Road. Those involved there were
bounced out of the Tropicana by deputies
working security.

- Battling babes
then gathered at 16th and Yakima Valley
Highway where, joined by friends and
relatives, they reportedly "got it on"
again.

- Police charged
several persons in connection with the
incident:
