- Car thief nailed after 100-mph chase
- RICHLAND (Tuesday 7-6-99)---A transient and his lady companion were arrested at around 9 a.m. today after leading police on a 100-mph chase in a stolen car.
- Staff at Richland Suzuki said the stolen auto was seen leaving Richland on Aaron Drive at State Route 240. The driver reportedly tried to flee police pursuit, driving east on Interstate I-182 toward Pasco.
- The vehicle became disabled near Road 100, where the thief reportedly gave himself up to police.
- Arrested in connection with the incident was Raymond Douglas, 32, no address, and Silvia Meshell, 27, of Salem, OR, a passenger in the stolen vehicle.
- Police said investigations linked Douglas with motor vehicle thefts from Grants Pass, OR; Salem, OR; Pasco and Richland.
Charges pending against the pair include taking a motor vehicle
without permission, possession of stolen property, and eluding
police, officers said.
