- YSO offers
citizens' law enforcement academy
- YAKIMA (Tuesday
12-8-98)--The Yakima County Sheriff's office is
offering a first-ever citizens' academy for persons
who would:

- • Like to learn
more about law enforcement, or
-
- • Like more
information about ways to report and prevent crime
in their neighborhoods.

- YSO views the
citizens' academy as an important project in its
community oriented policing objectives, according
to Deputy Bill Splawn.

- "By working in
partnership with the community, we can both track
and solve more crimes," he said.

- Classes will begin in
January and will be held Thursday nights for six
weeks from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Yakima County
Courthouse, 128 N. 2nd St., Yakima.

- The program is free of
charge. More information about the academy may be
