accident wounds man
- YAKIMA (Tuesday,
11-24-98)--A unnamed 17-year old man living at 1820
Riverside Rd., Yakima, reportedly shot and injured
himself at 3 p.m. today while getting ready for a
hunting trip.

- Sheriff's deputies
said the victim was transported to Yakima's
Memorial Hospital where he was treated for a
gunshot wound to the abdomen.

- The victim and his
17-year old girlfriend reported the shooting was
accidentally self inflicted, according to Deputy
Ken Talkington.

- Car hits
cow;Wapato man injured
- WHITE SWAN (Sunday
11-22-98)--David Jeronimo, 24, of Wapato was
injured when his 1997 Honda Civic connected with a
cow in the roadway at 2 a.m. today in the 700 block
of N. White Swan Rd.

- Jeronimo reportedly
was traveling south when his car hit the cow. The
animal was thrown partially through the windshield
injuring Jeronimo.

- Sheriff's deputies
said Jeronimo suffered a broken left hand and nose,
plus multiple scrapes and abrasions. He was
transported by ambulance to Yakima's Memorial
Hospital.

- Mystery kid
blows up Pepsi machine
- WAPATO (Wednesday 11-20-98)---Used to be a
Pepsi machine by Wayne's Tire Store until a 16-year
old kid blew it up in an explosion that rattled
windows five blocks away.

- Wapato police said officers were patrolling
near N. Camas Avenue and Donald Road when they
spotted a Hispanic kid standing by the Pepsi
machine at about 8:20 p.m.

- When the kid saw them, he fled northbound on
foot. After he was out of sight "there was an
explosion" police said. The $7,000 pop machine was
destroyed.

- After a short chase, cops collared the kid,
took him into custody, then later released him to
his parents. Wapato PD's policy is not to release
the name of juveniles until they're arraigned in
juvenile court.

- Other officials said "dynamite man" is a
student at Wapato High School.

- Girl victim
of home invasion
- SUNNYSIDE (Tuesday
11-17-98)---A 14-year old white girl was assaulted
and injured at about 8 p.m. today after masked
thugs broke into her home at 750 Midvale Rd.

- Police said suspects
entered her home, struck her on the head and back
with a baseball bat, then bound her hands and feet
with duct tape. Thugs then threw a blanket over her
head, and told her a bomb was taped to her body.
Then they ransacked the girl's
home.

- The girl was found
this way when her mother came home from work. The
bomb turned out to be an electrical battery
charger, which was taped to the girl's left arm.
The girl suffered bruises to her head and back,
according to Deputy Derek Artz.

- Wife shoots
husband; he lives
- YAKIMA (FRIDAY
11-13-98)--Sheriff's deputies received a call at 9
p.m. this evening from a woman who told them she'd
just shot her husband, Gregory Kaiser, 40, of
Selah.

- Deputies entered a
residence in the 11800 block of Tieton Drive and
found Kaiser, who had suffered several gunshot
wounds.

- Kaiser was taken to
Providence Medical Center in Yakima, where
officials said he was in surgery and in stable
condition.

- Deputies said no
immediate arrests were made at the scene, but later
arrested a suspect, who was due for a preliminary
hearing Nov. 17.

- The phone book lists
Marda Kaiser as Gregory's wife.

Tractor
accident injures worker
- YAKIMA (TUESDAY
11-10-98)--A Yakima man was injured when his
tractor rolled over an embankment around 5 p.m.
Monday, deputies said.

- The accident occurred
in the 200 block of Wickersham Rd. Injured was
Thomas Tilley, who suffered bruises and abrasions.
Deputies said Tilley
was driving a '69 Ford tractor and spraying in an
orchard. He reportedly steered to avoid the trees,
and came too close to the embankment.

- His tires slid over
the side. The tractor rolled, and came to rest
upside down, pinning him underneath. He couldn't
free himself and yelled for help. Neighbors called
fire and ambulance personnel, deputies
said.

- Tilley was transported
to Yakima Memorial Hospital by Advanced Life
Systems ambulance service.

West Valley
hunter found dead
- WHITE PASS (Thursday
11-5-98)--A West Valley man was found dead
yesterday after he was reported missing in the
Tieton Pass area near Crest Trail south of White
Pass, according to deputies.

- Maylon Zeigler, 63,
was about five miles into the wilderness from the
trailhead at the end of U.S. Forest Service Rd.
1207 off Tieton Road.

- Search and Rescue
volunteers worked most of the night to find
Zeigler, but he was found by his son, deputies
said.
