Crash critically injures Wapato man

YAKIMA (Wednesday, 11-25-98)---The early morning crash of a vehicle driven at high speeds has critically injured a Wapato man, according to police.

 

Officers said the driver of a westbound car lost control of her vehicle near the intersection of Ninth Ave. and Tieton Drive at 2 a.m. today. Driver Kimberly DeHaan, Granger, was transported to Prividence Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

 

Her passenger, Tony Bennett, Wapato, didn't fare so well. Police said he was critically injured as the car skidded sideways, crossed oncoming lanes, and slammed into a telephone pole on the south side of Tieton Drive.

 

Bennett was transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital with massive head injuries, police said.

 

Police said they are investigating whether the accident was alcohol related.
