- Crash critically injures Wapato man
- YAKIMA (Wednesday, 11-25-98)---The early morning crash of a vehicle driven at high speeds has critically injured a Wapato man, according to police.
- Officers said the driver of a westbound car lost control of her vehicle near the intersection of Ninth Ave. and Tieton Drive at 2 a.m. today. Driver Kimberly DeHaan, Granger, was transported to Prividence Hospital with minor injuries, police said.
- Her passenger, Tony Bennett, Wapato, didn't fare so well. Police said he was critically injured as the car skidded sideways, crossed oncoming lanes, and slammed into a telephone pole on the south side of Tieton Drive.
- Bennett was transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital with massive head injuries, police said.
- Police said they are investigating whether the accident was alcohol related.
