fire, steal car, flee
- SELAH (Friday
10-30-98)--Two thugs reportedly set fire in a
field, stole a car, and used a pair of scissors to
threaten onlookers in an incident at 4:30 p.m.
yesterday at Northwestern Fruit and Produce, 10331
N. Wenas Rd.
-
- Deputies said one guy
got into the stolen car while the other fled on
foot. Officers said charges have been dropped
against the runner.
-
- Two civilian
witnesses--who were tied in with police via radio--
followed the stolen car, made the collar, held the
guy, and waited for police to arrive. They said the
car stopped because it dropped its
transmission.
-
- YSO--with backup from
the Washington State Patrol--then arrived to arrest
the driver at I-82 and Yakima Avenue "without
incident".
-
- Taken into custody was
a 17-year old Hispanic male in a 1986 Honda Accord.
The Sheriff's Dept. wouldn't release his name and

the kid apparently "just wanted a car" and took
it.

release names and addresses of those they arrest,
charge and imprison until the bad guy is
arraigned--sometimes the next day unless a weekend
intervenes--in this case in juvenile court.
