- Brawl breeds bumps and bruises
- SUNNYSIDE (Wednesday, 8-26-98)--Sunnyside police arrested nine brawlers who were fighting with weapons on the corner of S. 11th St. and Decatur Ave. at about 2 a.m. Sunday.
- When police drove onto the scene, they found someone had used a large flashlight and basesball bat during the fight. Several persons received bumps and bruises in the meelee but no serious injuries were reported.
- The fight apparently began at a home where a party was taking place. The fact that several people had "stared" at each other during the party was all it took to get the fight started, according to Det. Sgt. Jim Rivard.
- Arrested and charged were:
- Jose Martinez, 16, of 1120 Yakima Ave., Sunnyside, disorderly conduct and minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.
- Jose Guillen, 17, Grandview, minor in possession/consumption of alcohol
- Jose Gonzalez, 15, Grandview, obstructing a law enforcement officer
- Roel Degollado, 16, Grandview, minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.
- Fernando Guillen, 19, Grandview, minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.
- Ray Ruelas, 20, Sunnyside, minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.
- Ernie Perez, 19, Grandview, furnishing liquor to minors, possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Melchor Reyes, 22, of 920 SW Crescent, Sunnyside, fourth degree assault.
- Eduardo Alvarez, 19, of 125 S. Western St., Wenatchee, disorderly conduct and minor in possession/consumption of alcohol.
- Police nip gun transfer
- SUNNYSIDE (Saturday, 8-22-98)--Sunnyside police answered a complaint about a loud party in the 800 block of Yakima Valley Highway just after midnight today and wound up making two gun-related arrests.
- Det. Sgt. Jim Rivard said one party-goer, Jose Escobar, 14, of 220 S. 3rd St.,was found to be in possession of a .40 caliber, semi-automatic pistol. He was charged with being a minor in possession of a firearm, and minor consuming alcohol.
- Police later arrested Mario Diaz Sandoval, 17, of 300 S. 3rd St., at his home, and charged him with delivering the pistol to his neighbor, Escobar, a minor. Sandoval wasn't at the party. As police searched Sandoval's home, they found an SKS rifle, which they seized.
- County records indicate residences at both 220 and 300 S. 3rd St. are owned by Domingo Castellanos, of 452 SW Crescent Ave.
- Shooters flee after drive-by
- SUNNYSIDE (Tuesday, 8-18-98)--Slugs ripped into a home on South 13th last night while residents were inside.
- Police said several persons called the PD at 9:47 p.m. Monday to report shots being fired into a home at 815 S. 13th Sreet. At least two bullets struck the home.
- Several witness they saw a small gray pickup truck fleeing from the scene. Officers are following up on a couple of leads at this time, according to Sunnyside Police Sgt. Ed Radder.
- Butt nekkid and under arrest
- SUNNYSIDE (Tuesday, 8-18-98)--So when the pizza guy delivered one to Room 259 at the Travelodge, 408 Yakima Valley Highway, at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 17, the customer came to the door wearing nary a stitch.
- Pizza Pete was so shook he called police, and Officer Phil Schenck responded. It wasn't all that funny in hindsight, so to speak.
- Officer Schenck arrested Joseph Dominick Einck, 35, of 515 Green St., Primghar, IA, at 5:30 p.m. and booked him into Sunnyside Jail on charges of indecent liberties.

Officers also found a JVC car cassette stereo on the front floor passenger side of the red Ford. The equipment was later identified as belonging to Mario Verduzco, who lives in the county.
- SUNNYSIDE (Thursday, 8-6-98)--Susie Nuno Ramirez, 31, of 1301 North Ave., was arrested at 1516 Gregory Ave. by officer Steve Zetz at 8:40 p.m. Aug. 4 and booked on two warrants.
