School Board to mull new hires
SUNNYSIDE (Wednesday, 8-26-98)--The Sunnyside School Board will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Lincoln Elementary School to discuss hiring new staff.
 
New staffers up for hire include:
  • Jason Bare, SHS math teacher
  • Samuel Ramirez, SHS asst. volleyball coach
  • Suzi Carpino, SHS para-educator
  • David Palomarez, SHS ESL para-educator
  • Marcia Jansen, SHS in-house suspension para-educator
  • Yvonne Robinson, SHS sophomore class advisor
  • Jason Bare, SHS asst.volleyball coach
  • Jennifer Golden, Harrison asst. 8th grade volleyball coach
  • Mark Johnson, SHS marketing teacher
  • Misty Harvey district speech/language pathologist
  • David Beals, SHS science teacher
  • Anita Briones, Pioneer Elem. clerical aide/computer lab
  • Bonita Slavens, custodian
  • Deanna VanWingerden, Chief Kamiakin para-educator
  • Marisol Fernandez-Osgood, Chief Kamiakin para-educator

  • The Board will also be asked to approve resignations and retirements, including those of:

  • Alberto Flores, Chief Kamiakin teacher
  • David Funk, SHS math teacher
  • Julia Ard, district bus driver
  • Lloyd Bennett, SHS marketing teacher
In other Business, the Board will:
  • Discuss leaves of absences for Kathy Jollif, SHS para-educator; and Lori Schilperoort, Chief Kamiakin para-educator.
  • Hear second reading on series 5000 personnel policies
  • Approve interagency agrements with Merit Resources, Yakima Valley OIC, Yakima Skills Center
  • Approve an intergovernmental cooperative purchasing agreement. This saves the district money, sometimes at the expense of businesses which pay taxes to support the district.
  • Set the next Board meeting for Sept. 24.
  • Hear reports and enter executive session to hear discuss personnel.
  • Discuss rejecting a bid for a portable classroom.
