41.4% of Sunnysiders "Unprotected"

58.6 % of Sunnyside "Protected"

SUNNYSIDE (6-30-98)--The Sunnyside City Council has approved a federal document which ultimately can help the city net a new community center.

But the same federal document notes that 58.6% of the town is made up of "Protected Groups". By corollary, 41.4% of Sunnysiders are of an "Unprotected Group."

This state of affairs and accompanying propaganda is perfect to make various population groups resent each other.

The document approved last night is the city's federal "Title VI Certification." If this form isn't completed, no federal bucks will be coming for any community center. The document was filled out by Sunnyside Inc staff and presented by director Dave Fonfara.

Now that the Council has OKd it, Sunnyside can get some tax dollars to plan for a new community center.

Sunnyside's "Protected" groups include Blacks, .6 percent; Hispanics 57.1 percent; and American Indian/Alaskan Natives, .3 percent for a total of 58.4 percent (Most of these folks are nice people--and they don't make the laws).

Some white folks said after the meeting the concept of "Protected Groups" in America is "unfair". They said it runs counter to the U.S. Constitution's "equal protection under the law" clause, but that public schools for 30 years have taught next to nothing about the Constitution.

The "Unprotected Group" is white.

Since more than half of whites are women--also government "Protected"--only Caucasian males remain unprotected by government.
