REC meeting to recount business success stories
GRANDVIEW (3-18-98 )--The Lower Valley Rural Enterprise Community Advisory Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Grandview's City Hall, 207 W. 2nd St.

Business Incubator success stories will be included in reports to the Advisory Committee.

Maricela Navarette and Francis Nunez, Granger LYREC Job Shadow participants, will also be introduced at the meeting.

March 19 agenda items include:

  • Discussion of LYREC's organizational transition
  • Discussion of the $34,889 interest earnings generated through draw downs of LYREC grand funds between November 1995 and December 1997.
  • Reports from LYREC's standing committee chairs, including Rick Kane, Dan Guzman, Pete Saenz, and Greg Uberuaga.
  • Discussing the second round of federal funding for Rural Empowerment Zones.
  • Information about Empowerment Zone/Enterprise Community resource opportunities.
  • Other administrative matters.
  • The REC's Advisory Committee advises Yakima County, grantee of Rural Enterprise Community federal funds, and is chaired by Jesse Palacios. Dan Guzman is on board as staff director.
