- Council to
mull block grant
- SUNNYSIDE (3-9-98) --SUNNYSIDE--The
Sunnyside City Council will hold a public hearing
tonight to determine who does and doesn't want the
city to honcho an application for a $25,000
Community Development Block Grant to plan for a
community center. It's state money.
-
- If the council approves, The Sunnyside
Community Center Planning Committee would prepare a
needs assessment and feasibility study.
-
- Sunnyside isn't required to match the grant
dollars, but at least a 25 percent in-kind match is
favored.
-
- Pitching the grant app is the Community
Center Planning Committee and its subcommittee,
Sunnyside Community Now (SUN). This group
reportedly would provide the in-kind match. The
city would account for the money. The Committee
might hire a grant writer develop the proposal.
-
- In other business, the council will:
- Consider buying a new police car for the
police department detective division.
- Discuss the R-1 zoning ordinance and
residential standards for Sunnyside.
- Set agenda items for the March 16 regular
meeting.
-
- Agenda items would include:
- Award of a bid for Well No. 4A
- Announcing FREE DISPOSAL DAY at the Terrace
Heights and Cheyne Landfills from 9 a.m. to
5
- p.m. April 18.
- Discuss approval of the Washington Micro
Enterprise (WAME) contracts.
Consider qualifications and hiring procedures
for a new city manager.
